The cooling fans in your AC will then blow the chilled air through your cabin at the speed you select. If the cooling fans aren't working, chilled air won't circulate. Some reasons for the fans not working include blown fuses, blockages in the system, or broken fan blades. Air drawn into the AC could contain dirt or other debris. Over time, this debris could accumulate and restrict the movement of the fan blades. The fans could shut down in response to blown fuses caused by electrical shorts or surges. Finally, the blades could be broken by hard debris entering the AC system. We'll investigate, and our technicians can easily fix any of these problems for you. Broken Compressor Clutch The compressor is a vital part of your AC system, as it's responsible for moving the air through the system. It's the power unit for your AC and switches on and off several times during the cooling cycle. The compressor is controlled by the compressor clutch, which switches the system on and off when needed. If you listen when your AC is running, you'll hear a regular click as the compressor cycles. The clutch could fail due to age, and the clutch will jam open or closed. If the clutch jams open, the compressor will continue to run and could burn out. If the clutch jams closed, the compressor won't work and air can't move through the AC system. We'll examine the compressor, and we can easily replace a broken clutch to fix this problem. Your compressor will cycle on a​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​nd off normally. Electrical Problems The AC system contains several components, including the compressor, condenser, drier, and evaporator core. Wiring, fuses, relays, and switches control the flow of electricity through the system. In time, problems can develop with the electrical system, and this can cause your AC to malfunction. Aged wiring can break and cut off vital parts of the AC system, preventing them from working. Each component has a fuse, and blown fuses will shut down their attached component until the fuse is replaced. Switches and relays can also fail and prevent the system from working.
