1. North Fork Campground
A perfect example of Utah’s pristine forests and glens, North Fork Park and Campground is perfect for rediscovering the beauty of nature. The area is especially good for hiking, with trails leading as far as West Bowery and past several waterfalls. The trails are mainly used for hiking, but several are used as mountain biking trails.
The campgrounds are well equipped with fire rings, picnic sites, and running water over 181 individual sites. The campground can accommodate horses, with several corrals that can be used by campers. Individual sites can be reserved by calling the park office.
2. Pioneer Campground
Pioneer Campground is one of many small campgrounds located in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, a sprawling natural area to the northeast of Brigham City. The campground is typical of the area, with very few amenities and only 17 single sites. While potable water is available at the campground there are no hookups or waste stations, and toilets are limited to a single vault toilet.
That being said, stopping at this shady campsite, amongst mature forest trees is a truly magical experience. It’s quite likely that you will have the site to yourself, allowing you to truly appreciate the peace of the forest.
3. Hyrum Lake State Park
Located near the town of Hyrum, UT, Hyrum Lake State Park has many campsites available on a first-come-first-served basis, with boat ramps and courtesy docks that make it a great spot for boating enthusiasts.
The park is open from 6 am to 10 pm, and the gate attends only accepts cash or checks. The lake is also perfect for fishing, but a valid license must be obtained first. The campgrounds have full amenities, including a dumps station, restrooms complete with showers, and both standard and hookup sites.
4. Willard Bay State Park
Located on the tranquil waters of Willard Bay Reservoir, Willard bay state park is perfect for water skiing, boating, fishing, or swimming. The campsite is surrounded by shady cottonwood trees and is one of the few places where visitors can view eagles nesting during the winter months.
There are two marinas nearby to the north and south that offer all the facilities you could need for enjoying the bay. The campgrounds are spread out along the eastern shore of the lake, and offer full amenities to campers, such as electricity and water.
