Damaged Ground Wires

Electricity has to complete a circuit to work effectively, which means the electricity must be able to flow back to its source. In your car, electricity flows through a live wire to its target system, which has a ground wire that attaches to the car body. The ground wire completes the circuit, allowing the electricity to flow back to the battery or the alternator.

Ground wires can be exposed to water, mud, and even snow. In time, this moisture can build up on the ground wire connections and cause corrosion. A corroded ground wire leads to random electrical issues like flickering lights, intermittent power loss, and other problems.  We can test the grounds and clean or replace any damaged connections.

Starter Problems

When you hit the start button, the battery sends a powerful electrical charge to the starter solenoid. The solenoid then powers the starter, which spins the flywheel and turns the crankshaft. As the crankshaft turns the pistons and valves open and close, air and fuel flow into the intake manifold, and the combustion process begins.

If your starter has a problem, this process won’t work, and your engine won’t start. A failed starter, unlike a dead battery, can’t be brought to life by jumpstarting it. The starter can fail, but it’s more common for the solenoid to wear out. If this happens, the electrical charge won’t pass to the starter, and the starter won’t do anything. We can easily test your starter and replace the solenoid or install a new starter for you.

Broken Wiring

Electrical wires snake through your Chevy and carry power from the alternator to every electrical system. An engine is inhospitable for wiring as it is hot and greasy, and wires can move slightly as you drive. The wiring is protected against all these hazards by thick plastic and rubber insulation. Wiring, unfortunately, will wear out and become frail as it ages, and this can cause wires to break.

Broken wiring will cut off power to the electrical systems it connects to, and this will cause the affected systems to shut down. Your battery warning light will illuminate in response. Our technicians can trace the electricity flow through your car to identify and repair the damaged wires.
