1. Nature and Wildlife

The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge encompasses nearly 80,000 acres of open water, uplands, marshland, and alkali mudflats. It is an important resting, nesting, and feeding place for more than 200 species of birds. It is the perfect place to enjoy fishing, wildlife spotting, and photography, as well as hunting. There's a 12-mile auto tour route, perfect for wildlife spotting. Horsley City Park features a playground, volleyball stands, and walking and jogging trails.

2. History

The City is steeped in history. Visit the City Museum and tour their permanent exhibition that includes more than 10,000 historic items to learn more about the city's past. The Golden Spike National Historic Site commemorates the completion of the nation's first transcontinental railroad, joining the Central Pacific Railroad and the first Union Pacific Railroad.

The Box Elder Stake Tabernacle was originally completed in 1890, but a fire six years later completely gutted it. Within a year, the structure was rebuilt and today stands proud welcoming in the community. It is used for a meeting place, concert hall, and special events. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

3. Downtown

The historic Downtown area starts at the LDS Tabernacle and Temple and extends north up Main Street to Academy Square, it then expands one block East and West. In this area, many of the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area features a collection of unique stores offering everything from antiques, vintage items, art and craft, gifts, collectibles, and current trends.

The Farmers Market is held here at the Bill of Rights Plaza. The old fashioned cinema, Capitol Theatre, also stands in the downtown area. Idle Isle Café has been serving locals since 1921 and still features the original diner counter and handcrafted wooden booths.

4. Fruit Way

From July through to October sees the famous Fruit Way. Drive along Old High Way 89 and see dozens of fresh fruit stands. Each year, more and more local farms get involved and sell their homegrown fresh fruit. There's a selection of cherries, peaches, raspberries, and tomatoes, along with a variety of vegetables.
