Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

This 75,000-acre nature reserve sees large numbers of migrating raptors in the spring. Many stay throughout the summer to nest, and in the winter, the larger birds of prey can be found hunting for their meals. Start at the James V. Hansen Wildlife Education Center, and take the half-mile loop walk to see it all. This area is considered one of the most valuable wetland areas in the West and is a major destination for birding enthusiasts.

Mantua ATV Trails – Willard Peak Road

Willard Peak Road is 12 miles long and a popular location for mountain biking and ATV use. From Doc’s Flat, you can head up Willard Peak Road to arrive at Inspiration Point and take in the expansive views of the Wasatch Mountains and Cache Valley. Locals have reported that it’s easy to see elk, deer, and bobcats in the woods. As these trails often hug privately owned land, please check with Forest Services ahead of time before heading out.
