What’s New?

The 2023 3500 is one of the fourth-generation trucks first introduced back in 2020, with minimal changes to it this time around. The only adaptation of note is the introduction of heated, power-adjusted towing mirrors. Otherwise, everything remains the same.

Engines and Performance

The 3500 has a 6.6-liter V-8 engine fitted as standard. The best results occur when this engine is paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic. Under these circumstances, the truck produces 401 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. The engine is compatible with both rear and four-wheel drives and works hard to control the truck’s speed.

The Duramax powertrain has unshakable strength that gives buyers additional security when tackling steeper gradients. Due to its 400-hp output, it takes around seven seconds to travel from 0-60 mph. More importantly for a truck like this, it can tow loads that weigh up to a staggering 36,000 pounds. The High Country version comes with the AZ71 Off-Road Package, which means it can safely navigate challenging roads with ease.

Fuel Efficiency

The turbo-diesel engine gives a maximum return of 16 mpg, with an average of 14 mpg. This translates to a driving range of approximately 500 miles, thanks mainly to its 36-gallon fuel tank. Meanwhile, the gas V8 engine gives buyers a perfectly respectable return of 13 mpg for their dollar.

Cabin, Comfort, and Cargo

All 3500s are blessed with a gigantic dashboard packed with easily-accessible, user-friendly switchgear. In addition, the spacious cabin is made from high-quality materials that look expensive and add a touch of sophistication.

The front seats can either be heated or ventilated and the rear seats and steering wheel both have the heat function, too. Storage cubbies and a bin in the center console are convenient additions to longer drives, while the cabin’s beds are a respectable 6 ft 8 inches long, providing enough room for most adults.

Safety and Driver-Assist Features

Every heavy-duty Silverado has a touchscreen that can be upgraded to a bigger 8-inch one, through which passengers can access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The truck also has a Bose sound system, a Sirius XM satellite radio, wireless charging, and Wi-Fi.

The cabin has a camera to aid the driver when maneuvering such a large vehicle, and there’s also the option to add a forward-collision alert, emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, a rear cross-traffic alarm, and lane-keep assist.
