1. The Fruit Highway

US 89 south of Brigham City is known as the Fruit Highway. This drive will take you through some of the most spectacular farm country in Utah. In addition to the beautiful scenery, you will find plenty of farm stands, which, depending on the time of year, have peaches, cherries, apples, pears, and more for you to take home. Include a stop at Maddox Ranch House, where the steaks are sourced from cattle raised on-site, and even the bread is baked with local flour, for an amazing farm-to-table experience.

2. Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge Auto Tour

If you are looking for a relatively short trip that allows for plenty of nature viewing, Bear River is a great spot. Located in Brigham City, this 12-mile loop takes you through the heart of the Bear River Refuge. You can enter from either the north or south and there is a Wildlife Education Center on-site that is well worth the visit. The one-way loop includes many pull-offs that allow you to get a closer look at the wildlife or take photographs.

3. Logan Canyon Scenic Byway

This trip drive is over 40 miles, connecting Logan and Garden City. The trip offers many opportunities for recreation, from hiking to a quick picnic to overnight camping. Logan is around 30 minutes from Brigham City on Highway 89. Be sure to stop by the American West Heritage Center, just outside of Logan, for some fun, hands-on activities where you can learn more about life in the area prior to 1920. You can pan for gold, ride a train, and more, making this a great way to kick off your drive.

4. Transcontinental Railroad Backcountry Byway

Access the Transcontinental Railroad Backcountry Byway from Corinne, UT, which is around 10 minutes from Brigham City, via UT-13 S. Expect to spend between 3 and 4 hours traveling this 90-mile scenic byway that runs parallel to the original railbeds of the Transcontinental Railroad built in 1869. Your GMC Acadia will make this a trip to remember as you bounce along the gravel road that traces the path where the Union Pacific Railroad and Central Pacific Railroad connected.
